Hi, I’m Tara Mounts!
I’m a Licensed Mental Health Counselor and Substance Use Disorder Professional with nine years of experience providing therapy to individuals from ages twelve to eighty nine. I have worked in both inpatient and outpatient settings navigating; depression, grief, PTSD, mood disorders, addiction, chronic health challenges, neurodivergence, relational issues, and life transitions. I earned my Master’s degree in Counseling and Community Psychology from Bastyr University and my Bachelor’s degree from the University of Washington.
My style is solution-oriented, warm, and open-minded. I focus on building trust and creating a space where you can speak freely, feel understood, and work toward the changes that matter most to you. I integrate Rogerian therapy and mindfulness techniques to support both emotional understanding and practical growth. Additional techniques I enjoy are Gestalt therapy, attachment theory, structural family therapy, CBT, DBT, and compassion based theory.
Outside of work, I enjoy reading fiction; fantasy, sci-fi, mystery, and horror novels. I am a dedicated plant parent, tending to a variety of plants both indoors and outdoors. Time with friends and family is important to me. I am also an introvert and value my alone time for self-care and to recharge. My husband Brandon and my two little dogs are my daily companions and keep me grounded.
